Thrive Spine and Sports Rehab offers acupuncture at its Belmar clinic, about 20 minutes north of Brick Township. There is no Thrive office in Brick itself. Two licensed acupuncturists, Clint Price and AJ Adamczyk, treat sports injuries, back and neck pain, sciatica, headaches and joint pain. You do not need a referral. Call (732) 359-7440 or use the button below, and the front desk will check whether your plan covers acupuncture before you make the drive.

Your acupuncturists in Belmar

Clint Price, L.Ac.

Clint was introduced to acupuncture as a competitive swimmer and saw what it did for performance and rehab. He holds a kinesiology degree from the University of Maryland and a master's from the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and he is certified in electro-acupuncture, which runs a light current through the needles.

AJ Adamczyk, L.Ac.

AJ owns Thrive and treats at both of its clinics. A high school baseball injury sent him to an acupuncturist, and that visit is why he became one. He specializes in muscle, joint and sports injuries. He trained at the Eastern School too, and went on to develop the Electro-Acupuncture Institute.

Before you book

Do I need a referral for acupuncture in New Jersey?

No. New Jersey lets you book a licensed acupuncturist directly. Some insurance plans want a referral on file before they pay, and the front desk looks for that when it checks your benefits.

Does insurance cover acupuncture?

It depends on the plan. Thrive accepts Medicare, United Healthcare, Anthem and Cigna, and works with many other plans as an out-of-network provider, but acupuncture benefits differ from one policy to the next. Call (732) 359-7440 and you will know your cost before the first visit. The full list of plans is on our insurance page.

How long is the first acupuncture visit?

Set aside about an hour. The acupuncturist asks about the problem, tests how the area moves, and treats you in the same visit, so the first trip is more than a consultation.

How many acupuncture sessions will I need?

That depends on how long you have had the problem. A strain from the last few weeks often settles in a few visits. Pain you have carried for months takes more. You get an estimate at the first visit, and visits taper as the improvement holds.

Can I have acupuncture and physical therapy in one trip?

Yes. Ask the front desk to book the two appointments back to back. For a sports injury it is a common pairing: the needles get a tight muscle to let go, and the physical therapist strengthens it while it still moves well.
